Aunt Nicole's Visit

Devan's sister was so sweet to drive to Washington with us and help us move and hang out for a few days. The day after we moved in, Devan had to go to training all day for work. Nicole and the kids and I unpacked and did a little grocery shopping and tried to get settled. After he got home, we did a little sightseeing in downtown Tacoma.
We walked around by the glass museum

And watched part of a wedding ceremony that was taking place outside. It was beautiful.

Ben was so funny. He'd put his hands in the water and then shake them off. He really doesn't like to get wet the way that Hannah always has.

Then we walked up to the Rock Pizza place.

I asked them for some dough for Hannah to play with. It was sitcky and gross, but she loved it.

Ben enjoyed his pizza.

Riding the Link back to our car.

The next day was Sunday so we visited our new ward and then went to my mom's house for dinner.

Monday Devan started his new job and Nicole and I took the kids to the lake. It was the only overcast day all week and we were the only ones swimming. It was cold, but fun. Nicole and Hannah did most of the swimming. I mostly sat on the beach with Ben. It was wonderful. I got sand in my camera lens and now it's toast. This is the second time this has happened to me. I need to stop taking cameras to the beach. And now I can't even find the broken camera, so I have no pictures to show from the day. Sad. But the trip was super fun!

Tuesday we went to Point Defiance! We went to the zoo first, and then to Owen's beach. There are no pictures at the beach because my phone had died by then.

This little splash pad was so fun. The water would squirt out of one or two holes at a time and Ben kept chasing the water around and around. It finally got him.

Hannah got to brush a goat.

The sharks are my favorite part of the zoo. Hannah wasn't too interested in them when she was 1 and I was surprised that she wasn't too interested in them that day either. Ben really liked them though.

Hannah was so excited to get her picture taken with "Nemo."

Wednesday I had to go to my first midwife appointment, about 45 minutes away in Issaquah. Nicole was so sweet to sit with me and help wrangle my kids through an hour and a half appointment. We'd decided that morning to spend the whole day in the Seattle area since she was flying out that night and we were having to drive up north anyway. After the appointment we got lunch. Then we got ice cream and brought it with us to eat on the Seattle Temple grounds.

Then we drove into Seattle and stopped by the Space Needle.

As usual, Hannah loved the water.

And as usual, Ben didn't. He doesn't get upset when we go play by water, he just prefers to sit on the side and look serious.

Our last stop was to the food court for some Seattle Fudge. Hannah and Nicole rode a giant slug.

All too soon, it was time for Nicole to get to the airport. Luckily, Devan was working in SeaTac that day and he'd gotten off work before she had to catch her flight, so we were able to meet him for dinner before we had to say goodbye. It was so sad to have to send her off and let go of our Steele side of the family for now.

We took our camera to the beach and got sand in the lens. It would not focus and would make grinding noises. Nathan ended up holding the camera at a certain angle and would tap the camera 20-30 times and then would hold the button down to let it focus, and then keep rotating the camera a bunch of times, and tapping and focusing. Eventually the sand piece was knocked out of the gear, and the camera worked good as new. Hopefully you will be able to get it working.
